Dr. Panayiotis Alexakis, born in 1953, is Professor of Business Economics and Markets at the Department of Economics of the University of Athens. He has been a scholar of the "Alexander S. Onassis" Public Benefit Foundation. He has also taught at the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean, at the Hellenic and Cypriot Open University, in postgraduate business programs and in business seminars. During his career he has also dealt with issues relating to the cooperation between universities and enterprises. He has worked at the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Greece, enterprises, financial insitutions and organizations as a consultant or executive and has held various management posts in the financial and non-financial sector. He has been chairman and CEO at the Athens Derivatives Exchange 1998-2004 and the Athens Stock Exchange 2000-2004. He has participated in scientific conferences with papers and has published articles in scientific journals. His scientific work is recognized worldwide. He is a member of scientific associations, and is currently Director at the Center for Financial Studies, at the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
